Night owl or early bird? Science communcation roadshow kicked off
Our mobile research trailer “Nachtmensch oder Frühaufsteher?” is now touring Germany, bringing chronobiological insights directly to the public. The roadshow explores the fascinating question: how does light influence our internal clock? Visitors can engage with interactive exhibits, including UV spectrometry of everyday light sources, measurement of pupil responses, reaction‑time experiments, and chronotype questionnaires to determine if you’re a "morning lark" or "night owl".
Since launching in early May, our first stops have included Munich, Karlsruhe, Garching, Rostock, Chemnitz, and Leipzig — all accompanied by vibrant discussions with science fans and passersby . At each location, people of all ages and backgrounds tested their sleep‑wake preferences and light sensitivity, contributing real research data and sparking ideas for future lab studies.
We recently shared a detailed German-language blog post summarizing the experience so far — full of insights from Munich to Leipzig. You can read it here.
Stay tuned for more updates on the project website — we’ll be posting about upcoming stops, fresh learnings and behind-the-scenes stories from the trailer!
